We know that Tekapo has many passionate residents who are keen to make our town the best it can be.

Tekapo Community Board and Council staff has been working towards a plan for over 10 years with various iterations being drafted, but not getting to the point of approval.
The key strategic drivers for the Tekapo Traffic Masterplan are:
Protect Tekapo’s natural character and provide a pleasant, coherent village centre.
Improve traffic access, infrastructure and transport legibility and separate freight/large vehicles from pedestrian areas.
Manage growth pressures by addressing peak-period congestion, overloaded parking areas, and unsafe informal vehicle movements.
Reinforce a cohesive and connected town centre by enhancing wayfinding, consolidating parking, and creating continuous links between the school, playground, town centre, and lakefront.
