The Mackenzie District Council Gambling Venue Policy was adopted on the 8 August 2016. The Policy was made pursuant to Section101 of the Gaming Act 2003 which stipulates that a territorial authority must adopt a policy on Class 4 Venues. Under the current Policy, Gambling Venues are allowed to be established in the Business Zones in the District Plan. No gambling venues may be established in any Residential, Rural or Special Purpose Zones. New venues are allowed a maximum of nine gaming machines and the District has a limit on the number of overall machines.
The Mackenzie District Council TAB Venue Policy was adopted on the 8 August 2016. The Policy was made pursuant to Section 89 of the Racing Industry Bill Act which stipulates that a territorial authority must adopt a policy on TAB venues. Under the current Policy no approval will be given for any new TAB Venues in the Mackenzie District.
