Fairlie Shared Path Improvements

Consultation has concluded

As part of a number of initiatives to stimulate economic growth to offset the impacts of COVID-19, Council have allocated funds for the 2020/21 financial year to upgrade footpaths and shared pathways in Twizel, Tekapo and Fairlie.

It is unlikely that this year’s funding will be able to cover the construction of all the pathways referred to in the wishlist, therefore these works need to be prioritised. The current priorities are Demark Street, followed by School Road, or as budget allows for this financial year.

Delivering these works within this financial year will be challenging and Contractor availability is a high risk, therefore securing a Contractor to undertake the construction is critical to meet our objective of delivery within this financial year.

We are seeking feedback on the shared pathway locations and priorities in Fairlie which will assist Council in determining which shared pathways will be prioritised for construction in the future.

The plan shows the proposed designed works for the current financial year and the table shows the other roads proposed for footpath works. We wish to seek feedback on both the current proposals in the attached plan and the priority areas from the table of projects for your township.

Please let us know:

  • any concerns regarding the proposed forthcoming work proposal detailed in the attached plan;
  • your thoughts on how the additional list of works should be prioritised, once funding is available;
  • any other issues relating to this project that you'd like us to consider.

Thank you for taking the time to help inform our decision making process.

    Please refer to the plan and list in the document section and let us know which areas you'd like to see prioritised - and if the locations we've suggested make the most sense. If you disagree please tell us why, and where you think we should be prioritising.
